Amazon.com's Zoox Self-Driving Vehicles Granted Exemption by US Regulator
Aug 6, 2025 12:37 PM

03:16 PM EDT, 08/06/2025 (MT Newswires) -- Amazon.com's ( AMZN ) autonomous vehicle unit Zoox has received an exemption from the US National Highway Traffic Safety Administration to demonstrate its driverless cars, the US regulator said in a Wednesday statement.

US auto safety regulators issued an exemption to federal vehicle safety standards for driverless cars manufactured by Zoox under a newly expanded Automated Vehicle Exemption Program, according to the statement.

"This is a win-win for safety and innovation. Under the leadership of President Trump, US companies like Zoox have a process to create and test their latest technologies. America - not China - can and will drive the future of self-driving cars forward," US Transportation Secretary Sean P. Duffy stated.

Amazon.com ( AMZN ) shares were up 3.6% in recent trading.
