Amazon's Zoox Increases Speed and Footprint of Self-Driving Taxis in Las Vegas

07:03 AM EDT, 03/15/2024 (MT Newswires) -- Amazon.com's ( AMZN ) Zoox said Thursday that its self-driving taxis in Las Vegas will now travel farther and faster.

The perimeter will now extend five miles from the company's Las Vegas headquarters to the south end of the Strip along multiple routes that include three-lane roads, required lane changes, and unprotected right turns onto high-speed roadways. Speeds will now be as fast as 45 mph, including during light rain and at night, from a maximum of 35 mph previously.

Zoox said its robo-taxis can reach 75 mph.
