09:49 AM EDT, 04/28/2025 (MT Newswires) -- Amcor's ( AMCCF ) $8.4 billion acquisition of US-based rival Berry Global Group ( BERY ) has been cleared by the European Commission, which said the transaction would not raise competition issues given the limited market positions resulting from the transaction.
Under the deal, which was announced on Nov. 19, Berry shareholders will receive 7.25 Amcor ( AMCCF ) shares for each share held, valuing Berry at $73.59 a share.
The transaction is expected to close on April 30, the companies said.
Berry Global ( BERY ) shares were 0.4% higher in early trading on Monday, while Amcor ( AMCCF ) was up 0.1%.
