08:14 AM EST, 11/12/2024 (MT Newswires) -- American Airlines ( AAL ) , JetBlue Airways ( JBLU ) , and Spirit Airlines ( SAVE ) have halted all flights to and from Toussaint Louverture airport in Haiti's capital Port-au-Prince after two aircraft showed signs of gunfire damage, media outlets and airlines reported late Monday.

JetBlue ( JBLU ) said in a statement it was extending suspension of flights to Haiti until next month after its flight 935 showed signs of bullet damage upon returning from Port-au-Prince.

Spirit Airlines ( SAVE ) suspended all flights to two Haiti airports after it was forced to divert a landing passenger plane to the nearby Dominican Republic when it was struck by gunfire in an incident which injured a flight attendant, Reuters reported.

American Airlines ( AAL ) and Spirit Airlines ( SAVE ) did not immediately reply to MT Newswires' requests for comment.
