American Airlines Lowers Q1 Guidance Due to Rising Fuel Prices; Shares Drop Pre-Bell

08:48 AM EDT, 03/12/2024 (MT Newswires) -- American Airlines Group ( AAL ) lowered its financial guidance Tuesday for Q1 of 2024 due to fuel prices rising "considerably" since it first issued guidance in late January.

The airline operator said it expects its adjusted loss per diluted share to be at the low end of its guidance range of a loss of $0.15 to $0.35 per share.

American Airlines ( AAL ) now expects to pay an average of between $2.80 and $2.90 per gallon of jet fuel including taxes in Q1 up from previous guidance of $2.65 to $2.85. As a result of the fuel price increase,
