American Battery Technology Receives US EPA Contract to Recycle Lithium-Ion Batteries
Nov 6, 2025 11:04 AM

01:30 PM EST, 11/06/2025 (MT Newswires) -- American Battery Technology ( ABAT ) said Thursday it has been approved as a battery recycler and has received a contract from the US Environmental Protection Agency to recycle end-of-life lithium-ion batteries as part of a major cleanup operation.

Financial details were not provided.

The project involves safe handling and processing of damaged battery materials, the company said. Up to about 100,000 lithium-ion battery modules damaged in a fire at a Northern California facility in January require specialized handling, packaging, transportation, and recycling, according to a statement.

American Battery ( ABAT ) said it has overhauled its Nevada facility and has been receiving shipments of damaged battery materials for the past several weeks. The company estimated the value of recycled products that will be generated from the damaged materials at $30 million, based on current market prices.

Shares of the company were down 4.9% in recent trading Thursday.
