American Express Consumer Card Net Write-Off Rate Falls in July

12:22 PM EDT, 08/15/2025 (MT Newswires) -- American Express ( AXP ) said Friday the net write-off rate for US consumer card loans fell to 2% in July from 2.1% in June.

The net write-off rate for US small business card loans rose to 2.7% in July from 2.6% in June, the company said in a regulatory filing.

The write-off rates are based on principal only, excluding interest or fees.

Total US-based consumer and small business card loans increased to $124.2 billion in July from $122.7 billion in June, the company said.
