American Express Reports Preliminary September Consumer Card Net Write-Off Rate of 1.9%

12:50 PM EDT, 10/15/2025 (MT Newswires) -- American Express ( AXP ) said Wednesday the preliminary net write-off rate for US consumer card loans was 1.9% in September, down from 2% in August.

The net write-off rate for US small business card loans fell to 2.5% in September from 2.7% in August, the company said in a regulatory filing that provided preliminary figures for September.

Total US-based consumer and small business card loans fell to $124.8 billion in September from $125.5 billion in August, the company said.
