04:51 PM EDT, 09/30/2025 (MT Newswires) -- American Water Works ( AWK ) unit, Illinois American Water, said Tuesday it has completed the acquisition of the wastewater collections system of Madison for $3 million.

The integration of the new system adds about 1,500 customers to the utility company in the Metro East area near St. Louis, according to a statement.

Illinois American Water plans to invest $9.1 million in the city's wastewater collection system over the next five years, it added.
