04:24 AM EDT, 10/28/2025 (MT Newswires) -- American Water Works ( AWK ) unit Pennsylvania American Water said late Monday it completed the $3.5 million acquisition of the Appalachian Utilities water system, which serves about 1,450 customer connections.

The system's three full-time employees have joined Pennsylvania American Water's team as part of the acquisition.

The company said it intends to invest more than $6.2 million over the next five years to upgrade the system.
