American Water Works Unit Seeks Rate Increase in Hawaii
Aug 5, 2024 6:04 AM

08:39 AM EDT, 08/05/2024 (MT Newswires) -- American Water Works ( AWK ) said Monday that its Hawaii American Water unit has asked the Hawaii Public Utilities Commission to review its wastewater rates for a possible increase.

The rate adjustment request for Hawaii American Water's Hawaii Kai, Mauna Lani and Waimea wastewater service customers reflects $41 million in local wastewater infrastructure replacement and upgrades in those districts, the company said.

Hawaii American Water said if approved, typical single-family customers in Oahu and Hawaii will see monthly rate increases of roughly $9 and at least about $30, respectively.

The company expects any rate changes will not take effect until mid-2025, pending final approval by the HPUC.
