07:58 AM EDT, 09/08/2025 (MT Newswires) -- Americas Gold and Silver ( USAS ) traded 4.7% higher in NYSE American pre-market trading at last look after reporting potential for extracting antimony from copper concentrates at its Galena complex in Idaho.
The company said recent test work confirmed it could extract more than 99% of antimony from the site's copper flotation concentrate. Antimony flotation recovery rates from copper-silver tetrahedrite ore grading 1% antimony were between 90% and 96%, it said.
Americas Gold and Silver ( USAS ) noted that antimony, along with silver and copper, has been identified as a critical mineral essential for United States national security and economic resilience.
"This breakthrough could significantly enhance the payable metal value for Americas and our shareholders, as we currently receive little to no revenue for the antimony in our existing produced concentrates," said Paul Andre Huet, chairman and chief executive officer of Americas Gold and Silver ( USAS ).
"Our technical team is moving forward with detailed technical and trade-off studies to develop a plan to rapidly capitalize on the opportunity to commercially recover and realize value for the antimony, gold and copper already present in our concentrates," Huet said.
