10:57 AM EDT, 06/28/2024 (MT Newswires) -- Amkor Technology ( AMKR ) said Friday its near- and long-term science-based emissions reduction targets have been verified by corporate climate goals watchdog Science-Based Targets initiative.
The company said its goal is to reach net-zero emissions across the value chain by 2050.
In the near term, Amkor ( AMKR ) said it is aiming to slash 55% of absolute scope 1 and 2 emissions by 2033, compared with a 2022 base year.
Also part of the near-term targets is to see 80% of its suppliers by emissions covering purchased goods and services and capital goods will have science-based targets by 2028, the company said.
In the long term, Amkor ( AMKR ) said it is targeting a 90% emissions reduction in absolute scope 1 and 2 emissions by 2050 from a 2022 base year.
Within the same timeframe, the company said it is looking to slash scope 3 emissions by 97% per million US dollar value added.
Shares of the company were advancing by more than 4% in recent trading.
