08:41 AM EDT, 07/02/2025 (MT Newswires) -- Anaergia ( ANRGF ) said Wednesday that it agreed to supply capital equipment that would enable a wastewater treatment plant to produce biomethane in the city of Livorno in Tuscany, Italy.
The company said it entered into a binding agreement with RDR, an Italian engineering and construction firm that was awarded a public tender by ASA Livorno, which operates the plant.
The plant will produce renewable biomethane by processing food waste and other source-separated organics with wastewater sludge, Anaergia ( ANRGF ) noted.
"While Anaergia's ( ANRGF ) long-standing experience in Italy and in co-digestion globally is well established, we're especially excited to deliver Italy's very first co-digestion plant," said CEO Assaf Onn.
Total project investment was estimated at $25 million, and Anaergia ( ANRGF ) expects to recognize revenues of $3.2 million.
The plant will begin operating by December 2026. "Leveraging our global expertise with our proven solutions, this project exemplifies how we turn complementary waste streams into valuable energy resources, helping Livorno, and the planet, move toward a sustainable future," Onn added.
