02:06 PM EDT, 05/22/2024 (MT Newswires) -- Anavex Life Sciences ( AVXL ) shares were up more than 3% in recent Wednesday trading after the company reported new appointments to its leadership team.

The company hired Juan Carlos Lopez-Talavera as head of research and development, Terrie Kellmeyer as senior vice president of clinical development, and Jeffrey Edwards as vice president of clinical pharmacology and science.

Lopez-Talavera's previous leadership positions included at Fractyl Health and Intercept Pharmaceuticals, the firm said. Kellmeyer was most recently a group vice president of clinical development at Acer Therapeutics, while Edwards had also served as vice president of clinical science at Acer, and positions at other companies.
