09:41 AM EST, 03/08/2024 (MT Newswires) -- AngloGold Ashanti (AU) said Friday its board has voted unanimously to name Jochen Tilk as its new chairman, effective with the miner's next annual general meeting on May 28.

Subject to his re-election to the AngloGold board, Tilk will succeed Maria Ramos, who chose not to stand for re-election as board chair. Tilk has been an independent non-executive director since January 2019 and currently is chairman of the board's investment committee.

AngloGold shares were 0.3% higher in early Friday trading.
