10:45 AM EDT, 09/24/2024 (MT Newswires) -- ANSYS ( ANSS ) , TSMC and Microsoft ( MSFT ) have collaborated on a successful pilot to accelerate the simulation of silicon photonic components using cloud-based infrastructure, the companies said in a joint statement Tuesday.

Through the collaboration, the pilot achieved a performance improvement, with over 10 times speed-up in Ansys Lumerical FDTD photonics simulations using Microsoft Azure's NC A100v4-series virtual machines powered by NVIDIA (NVDA) GPUs, the statement added.

Photonic Integrated Circuits are essential across various industries, including data communications, biomedical tools, automotive LiDAR systems, and artificial intelligence, it added.
