01:30 PM EST, 02/23/2026 (MT Newswires) -- Amazon.com ( AMZN )-backed (AMZN) Anthropic said Monday in a blog post that three Chinese artificial intelligence companies violated its terms of service by generating over 16 million exchanges with its Claude models using about 24,000 fraudulent accounts.

Through a tactic known as distillation, DeepSeek, Moonshot and MiniMax sought to "acquire powerful capabilities from other labs in a fraction of the time, and at a fraction of the cost, that it would take to develop them independently," Anthropic said.
