Apple Blocked from Selling iPhone 16 in Indonesia Over Local Investment Rules

06:43 AM EDT, 10/28/2024 (MT Newswires) -- Apple ( AAPL ) has been blocked from selling the new iPhone 16 in Indonesia by the country's Ministry of Industry, citing the company's failure to meet local investment requirements, multiple media reports said on Monday.

The reports said Apple's ( AAPL ) local unit, PT Apple Indonesia, has not met the 40% domestic content requirement for smartphones and tablets.

They added that older iPhone models can still be sold in the country.

Apple ( AAPL ) did not immediately respond to MT Newswires' request for comment on the situation.

Indonesia's Industry Ministry couldn't be immediately reached for comment.
