10:39 AM EDT, 03/21/2024 (MT Newswires) -- Apple ( AAPL ) Chief Executive Officer Tim Cook on Thursday opened the tech giant's new store in Shanghai to a large crowd, according to media reports.
Cook opened the doors to the store and greeted customers who had been queuing since the previous day, Reuters reported.
Cook, who was with Deidre O'Brien, Apple's ( AAPL ) senior vice president of retail, didn't make any public comments, the report said.
Cook will travel next to Beijing for the China Development Forum, where foreign CEOs will meet with senior Chinese government officials.
Apple ( AAPL ) said in a statement Monday the new store in Jing'an, Shanghai, would open with a team of more than 150 employees.
The company said it has 57 stores in Greater China.
Shares of Apple ( AAPL ) fell 2.7% in recent trading Thursday.
