02:01 PM EDT, 04/23/2024 (MT Newswires) -- The Philippines' Securities and Exchange Commission said Tuesday that it asked Apple ( AAPL ) and Alphabet's (GOOG, GOOGL) Google ( GOOG ) to remove applications controlled by Binance.com from their app stores in separate letters.

"The public's continued access to these websites/apps poses a threat to the security of the funds of investing Filipinos," SEC Chair Emilio Aquino said in the April 19 letters sent to Apple ( AAPL ) and Google ( GOOG ).

Binance has not secured a license from the SEC to solicit investments from the public or operate an exchange for buying and selling securities, the regulator said.

Apple ( AAPL ), Google ( GOOG ) and Binance did not immediately respond to requests for comment by MT Newswires.
