07:30 AM EDT, 03/27/2025 (MT Newswires) -- Apple ( AAPL ) and Alphabet's (GOOG, GOOGL) Google ( GOOG ) are facing new regulations after Utah Governor Spencer Cox signed Wednesday the App Store Accountability Act, along with 99 other bills as part of a general legislative session.
The new law requires Apple's ( AAPL ) and Google's ( GOOG ) application stores to verify the age of its users and impose a parental permission requirement on those under 18 for certain applications, according to multiple reports.
The new regulation is set to take effect on May 7, CNBC said.
Apple ( AAPL ) and Google ( GOOG ) did not immediately respond to MT Newswires' requests for comments.
