Apple, Google Ordered by Singapore Police to Prevent Government Spoofing on Messaging Platforms

04:26 AM EST, 11/25/2025 (MT Newswires) -- Apple ( AAPL ) and Alphabet's (GOOG, GOOGL) Google ( GOOG ) should put in place measures to prevent spoofing of Singapore government agencies vie their messaging platforms, the Singapore Police Force said Tuesday.

The directives aimed at Apple's ( AAPL ) iMessage and Google Messages were issued Monday, with a compliance date of Nov. 30.

The police have "seen" scams, including more than 120 cases involving the impersonation of SingPost, it said. "There is therefore a need to put in place measures to deter the abuse of iMessage and Google Messages by scammers."

The technology giants have indicated they will comply with the police's directives, it said.
