Jan 17, 2025 4:25 AM

07:10 AM EST, 01/17/2025 (MT Newswires) -- Apple ( AAPL ) no longer holds the title of China's biggest smartphone seller, as local rivals Vivo and Huawei overtook the iPhone maker in 2024, according to data from research firm Canalys released on Thursday.

This comes as Apple's ( AAPL ) annual smartphone shipments in the country declined 17%, including a 25% drop in the final quarter, the data showed.

For the full year, Vivo captured a 17% market share in China, followed by Huawei with 16% and Apple ( AAPL ) with 15%.

Apple ( AAPL ) did not immediately respond to MT Newswires' request for comment on the matter.

The company's stock price was 4% lower at closing on Thursday.
