Apple Loses Top Smartphone Spot to Samsung as Q1 Shipments, Market Share Fall

07:09 AM EDT, 04/15/2024 (MT Newswires) -- Apple ( AAPL ) lost the top spot in the global smartphone market to Samsung after its Q1 shipments fell by nearly 10%, data from research firm IDC showed on Sunday.

Apple ( AAPL ) shipped more than 50.1 million in Q1, down from 55.4 million a year earlier, IDC said. The iPhone maker's market share shrunk to 17.3% from 20.7%.

South Korea's Samsung clinched the top spot with 60.1 million shipments and a 20.8% market share for the same period, according to the research firm.
