Apple No Longer Facing EU Probe Into Terms of App Store for E-Book, AudioBook Developers
Nov 22, 2024 4:33 AM

07:03 AM EST, 11/22/2024 (MT Newswires) -- Apple ( AAPL ) is no longer facing an antitrust investigation into the terms of its App Store for e-book and audiobook developers after a distributor withdrew its complaint, the European Commission said Friday.

In June 2020, the European Commission opened an antitrust investigation into Apple's ( AAPL ) rules imposing mandatory use of its own proprietary in-app purchase system, as well as into the restrictions the company imposed on other e-book and audiobook app developers to inform iPhone and iPad users of alternative cheaper purchasing possibilities outside the App Store.

The commission said the closure does not confirm compliance with EU competition rules, adding that it will continue monitoring Apple's ( AAPL ) practices under the Digital Markets Act and competition regulations.

Apple ( AAPL ) did not immediately respond to MT Newswires' request for comment.
