11:27 AM EST, 01/02/2025 (MT Newswires) -- Apple ( AAPL ) has reached an agreement with the US Consumer Product Safety Commission to enhance warnings on its AirTag tracking devices to help prevent battery ingestion hazards.
The Office of Compliance and Field Operations of the CPSC issued a notice of violation to Apple ( AAPL ), alleging non-compliance with Reese's Law, which mandates warning labels for products containing button or coin cell batteries.
While Apple's ( AAPL ) AirTag met performance standards for securing its lithium coin cell battery, units imported after March 19, 2024, lacked the required on-product and on-box warnings about the severe risks of battery ingestion, the CPSC said Thursday.
To address these concerns, Apple ( AAPL ) has added a warning symbol inside the battery compartment, updated its packaging to include required warnings, and revised the "Find My" app instructions to inform users about the dangers of button and coin cell batteries when replacing the AirTag battery.
Apple ( AAPL ) didn't immediately respond to a request for comment from MT Newswires.
Shares of Apple ( AAPL ) were down 2.4% in recent trading.
