11:41 AM EST, 03/06/2024 (MT Newswires) -- Apple ( AAPL ) said late Tuesday it has updated its new business terms for European Union app developers, which the iPhone maker announced in January to comply with the EU's Digital Markets Act.
The policy revisions followed feedback from thousands of developers as the tech giant discussed with them the DMA-related changes to iOS, Safari, and the App Store under its "Alternative Terms Addendum for Apps in the EU".
The company said corporate entities can now opt to sign up for the new terms at the developer account level.
"To make it easier for more developers to sign up for the new terms, we've removed the corporate entity requirement that the Addendum must be signed by each membership that controls, is controlled by, or is under control with another membership," it said.
Apple ( AAPL ) said developers will also now have a one-time option to terminate the Addendum and switch back to its standard business terms for EU apps. This change is intended "to help reduce the risk of unexpected business changes under the new terms, such as reaching massive scale more quickly than anticipated."
It also introduced new eligibility criteria and scrapped the letter of credit requirement for developers who want to create alternative app marketplaces.
