03:37 PM EDT, 10/28/2024 (MT Newswires) -- Apple ( AAPL ) said Monday it is rolling out its generative artificial intelligence features for iPhone, iPad, and Mac devices.

The technology giant announced in June a partnership with OpenAI's generative AI chatbot, ChatGPT, along with a number of AI features debuting as Apple Intelligence.

Apple ( AAPL ) said Monday Apple Intelligence is available on all iPhone 16 models and the iPhone 15 Pro and Pro Max. Apple Intelligence is also available on the iPad with A17 Pro or M1 and later, and Mac with M1 and later. The first set of features is available as a free software update, according to the company.

"Apple Intelligence unlocks exciting new capabilities that make your iPhone, iPad, and Mac even more helpful and useful, from Writing Tools to help refine your writing, to summarized notifications that surface what's most important, to the ability to search for almost anything in your photos and videos by simply describing it," Apple ( AAPL ) Senior Vice President of Software Engineering Craig Federighi said.

The company has made improvements to its Siri virtual assistant. Apple ( AAPL ) said users will have the option to enable ChatGPT integration.

"Apple Intelligence builds on years of innovation in AI and machine learning to put Apple's ( AAPL ) generative models at the core of our devices, giving our users a personal intelligence system that is easy to use -- all while protecting their privacy," Apple ( AAPL ) Chief Executive Tim Cook said.

The company said the new Apple Intelligence features will be available in December, with more capabilities planned in the coming months.

Separately, Apple ( AAPL ) said a new iMac computer, featuring the M4 chip and Apple Intelligence, will be available starting next Friday. The computer is up to 1.7 times faster than iMac with M1, according to the company.

The iMac is now available to pre-order at a price starting at $1,299.

Apple ( AAPL ) shares were up 1.2% in Monday late-afternoon trade. The stock has gained roughly 22% in value so far in 2024.

The company is scheduled to report its fiscal fourth-quarter financial results Thursday. Analysts polled by Capital IQ are looking for GAAP earnings of $1.53 a share on revenue of $94.40 billion. A year earlier, Apple ( AAPL ) reported EPS of $1.46 on net sales of $89.5 billion.
