12:00 PM EST, 01/02/2025 (MT Newswires) -- Apple ( AAPL ) has agreed to a $95 million cash settlement to resolve a class action lawsuit alleging its Siri voice assistant violated user privacy.
The preliminary settlement, filed Tuesday in a federal court in Oakland, California, requires approval by US District Judge Jeffrey White.
The lawsuit claims Apple ( AAPL ) recorded private conversations without user activation of Siri and shared those recordings with third-party reviewers. The class period covers Siri-enabled device users from September 2014 to the settlement date.
Class members may receive up to $20 per device, such as iPhones and Apple Watches.
Apple ( AAPL ) has denied any wrongdoing in connection with the settlement.
Apple ( AAPL ) did not immediately respond to MT Newswires' request for comment.
Shares of Apple ( AAPL ) fell 2.3% in recent trading.
