01:54 PM EDT, 09/30/2025 (MT Newswires) -- Apple ( AAPL ) has been sued by the US Equal Employment Opportunity Commission for allegedly failing to accommodate an employee's Jewish faith, the federal agency said on Tuesday.
It its lawsuit, the commission said that a 16-year employee at the Reston, Virginia Apple Store, who converted to Judaism in 2023, was not allowed to take both Friday and Saturday off to observe his Sabbath after his store manager rejected his request for religious reasonable accommodation citing Apple's ( AAPL ) scheduling policy.
Additionally, the federal body claimed that Apple ( AAPL ) began disciplining the employee for allegedly violating its grooming policies, ultimately leading to the employee's termination in January 2024 on similar grounds.
The US Equal Employment Opportunity Commission filed a suit in US District Court for the Eastern District of Virginia after attempting a pre-litigation settlement with the company via its conciliation process, the commission said.
Apple ( AAPL ) did not immediately respond to MT Newswires' request for comment.
