04:52 AM EST, 11/06/2024 (MT Newswires) -- Apple ( AAPL ) is about to be the first big tech company to be fined by European Union antitrust authorities under the Digital Markets Act, news outlets reported Tuesday, citing unnamed sources.
The iPhone maker was accused in June of breaching the DMA, which went into effect this year. It required the company to allow users to choose their default browsers, allow competing app stores and permit non-Apple ( AAPL ) devices to access iPad features, the reports said.
The fine is likely to be publicly disclosed this month and may total 10% of the company's worldwide annual turnover, Reuters reported.
Apple ( AAPL ) and the European Commission did not immediately reply to MT Newswires' requests for comment.
