Apple Workers in New Jersey Petition to Unionize, Antitrust Suit's Judge Recused - Media Reports
Apr 11, 2024 4:38 AM

07:21 AM EDT, 04/11/2024 (MT Newswires) -- Apple ( AAPL ) store workers in Short Hills, New Jersey have petitioned to unionize, several media reported since Wednesday.

The Communications Workers of America is representing the store's staff, reports said. The store is located in a mall with 104 employees, according to a Bloomberg News report.

The union did not immediately respond to MT Newswires' request for comment.

Separately, Apple's ( AAPL ) ongoing antitrust suit, in which the US Justice Department accused the iPhone maker of monopolizing the smartphone market, has been reassigned a new judge, a Reuters report said.

District Judge Michael Farbiarz said he was required to recuse himself from the case based on a conflict-of-interest rule, although Farbiarz did not provide the exact reason for his disqualification, according to the report. The judge reportedly did not respond to Reuters for comment.

Apple ( AAPL ) did not immediately respond to MT Newswires' request for comment on both the unionization petition and the antitrust suit's judge change.
