Nov 4, 2024 11:42 AM

08:25 AM EST, 11/04/2024 (MT Newswires) -- Apple's ( AAPL ) iPadOS operating system must comply with all applicable obligations under the Digital Markets Act, or DMA, the European Commission said Monday.

The commission said it will assess the effectiveness of the measures adopted for iPadOS in complying with the obligations.

"If the commission concludes that Apple's ( AAPL ) solutions are not compliant with the DMA, the commission will take formal enforcement action as foreseen in the DMA," the EC said.

The commission also said that among other things, Apple ( AAPL ) must allow users to choose the default web browser in iPadOS, alternative app stores on its operating system and accessory devices to effectively access the system's features.

Apple ( AAPL ) did not immediately respond to a request for comment from MT Newswires.
