Apple's iPhone Shipments in China Climb 12% in March, Research Firm Data Show

12:20 PM EDT, 05/08/2024 (MT Newswires) -- Apple ( AAPL ) saw a 12% increase in iPhone shipments in China in March, based on data released Wednesday by the China Academy of Information and Communications Technology.

The increase comes amid price discounts offered by the company and its retailers particularly for iPhone 15 in the world's second-largest economy.

The research firm's data showed mobile phone shipments in China in March totaled about 21.4 million units, of which 17.6 million units were domestic brands.

That indicates foreign-banded phone shipments accounted for about 3.75 million units, which according to media reports can be attributed mainly to iPhone as it dominates the Chinese market for foreign-branded phones. That compares with the 3.35 million shipments a year earlier, based on Reuters' calculations from previous CAICT data.
