Apple's next iPhones won't use Qualcomm wireless chips, says report
Jul 26, 2018 3:07 AM

As the practical impact of the ongoing legal battle between Apple and Qualcomm, the iPhone maker may exclusively use Intel modems in its upcoming smartphones such as iPhone XI, iPhone 9, reported TechRadar.

Apple currently uses a mix of Qualcomm and Intel modems, but Qualcomm financial chief George Davis told investors that his company believes that iPhone maker will solely use its competitor’s modems on its upcoming handsets, the report said.

The move away from Qualcomm should ideally mean that all the products in Apple's 2018 lineup will use the same provider, which was not the case in the past, the report added.

Intel would develop the wireless chipset responsible for cellular and other wireless communications in Apple’s 2018 handsets, it said.
