08:47 AM EDT, 09/16/2025 (MT Newswires) -- Aqua Metals ( AQMS ) said Tuesday it has signed a memorandum of understanding with Impossible Metals to strengthen the US critical minerals supply chain by developing sources independent of overseas control, especially China.

The companies will collaborate on assessing a new way to produce and refine minerals most important to electrification, national defense and clean energy technologies.

The partnership will combine the AquaRefining platform with Impossible Metals' approach to harvesting polymetallic nodules from the deep-sea floor for a fully domestic supply chain for resources such as nickel, cobalt, copper, manganese and rare earth elements.

Shares of Aqua Metals ( AQMS ) were up more than 5% in recent premarket activity Tuesday.
