09:48 AM EDT, 07/09/2025 (MT Newswires) -- ArcBest ( ARCB ) said Wednesday it completed a pilot program assessing the Tesla (TSLA) Class 8 electric semi-truck in over-the-road operations.

ArcBest's ( ARCB ) ABF Freight operated the vehicle over a three-week period across typical dispatch lanes, including over-the-road routes between service centers in Reno, Nevada, and Sacramento, California, the company said.

The electric vehicle "showed meaningful progress" in areas like range, charging efficiency and driver support, and "generally matched" the performance of its diesel counterparts, ArcBest ( ARCB ) said.

The company also said it will continue to evaluate the long-term viability of Class 8 electric vehicles within its fleet.
