09:41 AM EDT, 08/15/2024 (MT Newswires) -- Archer Aviation ( ACHR ) said Thursday that it had delivered its first Midnight aircraft to the US Air Force for assessment as part of a contract valued at up to $142 million.

The delivery comes after the Department of Defense of accepted the aircraft's military airworthiness assessment, the company said.

The aircraft has vertical takeoff and landing capabilities, as well as an electric powertrain and a low-noise profile, the company said.

Archer shares were up 2.4% in recent trading.
