Aug 11 (Reuters) - MARI Group said on Tuesday it has signed
a deal to acquire British West End theater operator ATG
Entertainment, in the latest acquisition by the global live
events company founded by Hollywood power broker Ari Emanuel
last year.
Here are more details:
* Financial terms of MARI's acquisition of the theater
operator from Providence Equity Partners were not disclosed, but
the Financial Timessaid the deal was valued at about £4.5
billion ($6.07 billion).
* ATG Entertainment owns and operates 70 venues across the
UK, the U.S., Germany and Spain, entertaining more than 18
million audience members each year.
* ATG's portfolio includes Broadway venues including the
Walter Kerr Theater and the Lyric, and features shows like
"Harry Potter and the Cursed Child" and "The Lion King".
* Reuters had reported in May that ATG Entertainment is in
the early stages of being prepared for a possible sale.
* "MARI intends to act as a long-term custodian of ATG's
theaters, investing in their preservation and modernization
alongside an improved audience experience and support for new
productions, to the benefit of theatergoers and producers
alike," the company said in a statement.
* Since launching MARI in October, Emanuel has acquired
assets such as digital ticketing platform TodayTix, the Miami
Open, Frieze art fairs and Barrett-Jackson auto auctions.
* Emanuel is also the CEO of Ultimate Fighting Championship
and World Wrestling Entertainment owner TKO Group ( TKO ).
