09:48 AM EST, 11/26/2024 (MT Newswires) -- ASP Isotopes ( ASPI ) said Tuesday it has completed construction of a Silicon-28 enrichment facility in South Africa and begun the commissioning process, with plans to deliver commercial quantities by the first half of next year.

The advanced materials company said the facility, designed to produce over 50 kilograms annually of enriched Silicon-28 at a purity of 99.995%, exceeds the company's earlier capacity estimate of 10 kilograms per year.

Silicon-28, used in quantum computing and semiconductors, supports performance and heat conduction, according to ASP Isotopes ( ASPI ).

The company said it has already signed two supply agreements with US-based customers and is negotiating with other potential buyers globally.

Financial terms were not provided.

ASP Isotopes ( ASPI ) plans to patent key components of the facility's enrichment technology, the company added.
