03:44 AM EDT, 10/24/2024 (MT Newswires) -- AST SpaceMobile ( ASTS ) said late Wednesday it has been retained by the US military's Space Development Agency for an "other transaction" agreement to compete for prototype demonstration projects under the Hybrid Acquisition for Proliferated Low-Earth Orbit program to speed advanced technologies.

The company sais its space-based cellular broadband technologies serve both communications and non-communications applications.

Shares of the company were up 3.6% in Wednesday's after-hours activity.
