12:40 PM EDT, 07/25/2024 (MT Newswires) -- AST SpaceMobile ( ASTS ) shares were up nearly 20% in recent Thursday trading after the company said it completed the first five of its Bluebirds commercial satellites.

The satellites are designed to provide space-based broadband to smartphones and will be ready for shipment to Cape Canaveral during the first week of August, the company said.

AST SpaceMobile ( ASTS ) said it will confirm the exact launch date of the satellites as it comes closer to the 7-day launch window in September.
