08:22 AM EDT, 03/10/2025 (MT Newswires) -- AtkinsRealis Group ( SNCAF ) and Bird Construction ( BIRDF ) said Monday that their Rail Connect Partners joint venture agreed with Metrolinx to deliver the East Harbour Transit Hub in Toronto, which will serve about 100,000 daily riders and connect to the Lakeshore East and Stouffville GO lines.
"The East Harbour Transit Hub is one of the first major transit projects in Canada to use an alliance contracting model, which has been used in developed economies around the world for its risk and reward sharing benefits," said Stephanie Vaillancourt, president of AtkinsRealis' ( SNCAF ) Canada operations.
The work includes completion of the rail corridor and bridge widening over an important thoroughfare, as well as commencement of station works, associated infrastructure and future road extension to facilitate a future streetcar connection.
"Bird's continued work on the East Harbour Transit Hub, one of the first major transit projects in Canada to use an alliance contracting model, leverages our extensive collaborative contracting experience, comprehensive self-perform capabilities, and expanding national Infrastructure presence," said Teri McKibbon, Bird's president and CEO.
