Avangrid Wins 2 Lease Areas in Gulf of Maine to Develop Offshore Wind for $11.1 Million

01:30 PM EDT, 10/29/2024 (MT Newswires) -- Avangrid ( AGR ) said Tuesday it won two lease areas in the Gulf of Maine for a total of $11.1 million.

The energy company said it will develop the lease areas for offshore wind, adding that the areas hold potential to generate 3 gigawatts of power.

The lease areas, which are located in the Gulf of Maine development area's southwest region, will allow Avangrid ( AGR ) to advance its floating wind technology, the company said.
