Baidu's Public Relations Chief Exits After Controversial Work Culture Comments

11:28 AM EDT, 05/10/2024 (MT Newswires) -- Baidu ( BIDU ) public relations head Qu Jing has left the company following public outcry over her comments about work culture at the Chinese internet search engine company, multiple news outlets reported Friday.

Qu made comments in several short videos recently posted on Douyin, the Chinese counterpart of TikTok, that critics said promoted a culture of overwork and lacked empathy towards Baidu's ( BIDU ) employees, the reports said.

She has apologized for what she herself described as "inappropriate" comments, according to the reports.

Baidu ( BIDU ) hasn't officially announced Qu's exit, which the reports said had been confirmed by some employees.

The company did not immediately reply to MT Newswires' request for comment.
