11:14 AM EST, 12/05/2024 (MT Newswires) -- Ballard Power Systems ( BLDP ) said Thursday it will deliver 98 fuel cell engines with a total power of about 20 megawatts to Canadian Pacific Kansas City ( CP ) next year.

The supply of the fuel cell engines for use in the North American freight rail market is included in the new long-term supply agreement between the two companies, Ballard said.

The agreement builds on the companies' existing partnership that began in 2021 and has included the delivery of about 10 MW of fuel cell engines to date, Ballard said.

Ballard shares advanced 11% in recent trading.
