08:26 AM EST, 12/09/2024 (MT Newswires) -- Ballard Power Systems ( BLDP ) , up 2.5% on Monday in U.S. premarket trading, said it signed a multi-year supply agreement with Stadler US. Financial details were not disclosed.
The agreement will see the company supply 8 megawatts of fuel cell engines to power trains for the California Department of Transportation (Caltrans). The engines will be integrated into Stadler's line of zero-emission passenger trains.
The order supports Caltrans' purchase of of the zero-emission trains, with an option for an additional 19 trains. Ballard last week reported that CPKC (CP.TO) had placed a follow-on order for 20 MW of fuel cell engines.
The company's shares were last seen up US$0.04 to US$1.65 in New York trading.
