02:44 PM EDT, 08/28/2025 (MT Newswires) -- Barclays ( BCS ) said Thursday that its subsidiary, Barclays Principal Investments, agreed to sell its stake in the Entercard Group joint venture to partner Swedbank for 2.6 billion Swedish kronor ($274.6 million).

The sale is expected to close by the end of this year, Barclays ( BCS ) said in a regulatory filing.

The deal will release 900 million pounds ($1.22 billion) in risk-weighted assets and boost Barclays' ( BCS ) Common Equity Tier 1 ratio by 4 basis points, according to the filing.

Entercard provides consumer credit to customers across Sweden, Norway, Denmark and Finland.
