Ben Carson to join USDA as nutrition adviser, Bloomberg News reports
Sep 24, 2025 8:21 AM

(Reuters) -Former housing secretary and retired neurosurgeon Ben Carson will take charge as senior nutrition and housing adviser at the U.S. Department of Agriculture temporarily, Bloomberg News reported on Wednesday.

Carson will serve "as a point person" at the USDA to help advance Health Secretary Robert F. Kennedy Jr.'s agenda to "Make America Healthy Again," Bloomberg News reported, citing an agency spokesperson.

He will advise on nutrition, health and housing, with a focus on rural health investments, and regularly attend MAHA-related events with Agriculture Secretary Brooke Rollins, according to the report.

President Donald Trump and Rollins tapped him for the role, the report said.

The USDA did not immediately respond to a Reuters request for comment.
